Cupid Comes to Circle RV Resort on Valentine’s Day

By sunland | Published February 17th, 2012

Love was flowing like a Niagara Falls of chocolate fondu this Valentine’s Day at Sunland RV Resorts. Circle RV Resort, one of Sunland’s four San Diego properties, hosted “Cupid’s Dinner” for their guests serving up such a lovely affair that there was little need to make restaurant reservations. Indeed, February 14th can be a stressful day to make plans. This Valentine Cupid’s Dinner took the pain and guesswork out of the holiday so guests could sit back, relax, and share the intended spirit of the holiday with their loved ones.

This event was a complimentary for Circle RV guests where the resort provided dinner and Valentine themed gift boxes filled with a cornucopia of confection delights. Inside were iconic sweetheart candies, Hershey’s hugs & kisses, caramel chocolates, strawberry &  butterscotch hard candies, peanut butter cups, other assorted chocolates and dinner mints.  All of which were loaded with sugar and love from the RV park staffers.

Lindsay Du Bois, the resort’s reservationist and creative mastermind provided her own specially seasoned TLC in the form of the barbequed tri-tips she prepared. She also made a  secret family recipe for “white potatoes,”  Rumor has it, Saint Valentine himself requested the ingredients. Laura, the General Manager, contributed her recipe of amore making several dishes of her own. She made baked beans and tossed together a salad with fresh avocados that were donated by a guest, then baked fresh sourdough dinner rolls. I don’t know about you but I am getting hungry! While Circle RV provided the dinner cuisine, the guests provided the desserts,  wine and champagne helping to incite some romantic moments.

Heart candles were lit and displayed on the food tables, as well as a fresh bouquet of flowers given to us by Jim & Jacqualine, our site map creators at Southeast Publications USA.  Some forty people gathered in Circle RV’s comfortable recreation room for the Valentine’s dinner, all couples- Awwwwwweeeee. Each and every one brought something in the way of sweets or wine to complete the affair.

The decor and ambiance were fabulous. The tables were decorated with floating candles and assorted chocolates were laid out for the runner. The low light of  burning candles added a luminescent tone that set an intimate dining setting. Beyond the pleasant aesthetics, the food was a hit with the guests. EVERYONE raved about the delicious steak marinade and the potatoes. Several people asked  for the recipe, but neither Saint Valentine nor a single guest got their hands on it – it’s a secret recipe!  They’ll just have to reserve their stay for the next party to get another taste.

Dinner lasted about two hours and a great time was had by all. The best thing was, at the end of the charming evening, there was no bill to pay and guests could just saunter back to their cozy motorhome abodes.  Guests were very appreciative of the event but, the whole purpose of this dinner and many of the events as Sunland RV parks and resorts are to show how much we appreciate our guests. Hoping a happy Valentine’s and February to all.

Golden Village Palms RV Gives Back to Community Care Takers

By sunland | Published January 24th, 2012

Earlier this month, Golden Village Palms had our Emergency Personal Appreciation Breakfast. Forty-eight Hemet public service professionals visited the property from varying city departments including Fire, Police & Ambulance crews.  The city employees and care takers of Hemet and the Golden Village Palms community were joined by  with 100 GVP guests.

The front of the club house was  packed full with police cars, motorcycles, undercover cars, swat, fire trucks, and ambulances. Our honored guests really enjoyed and appreciated the breakfast, where they got a chance to meet and interact with other public service professionals. Many of the emergency personnel had never been to the resort before and were just amazed at the oasis and the amenities that resort has. The event was such a success that some officials suggested they come out in the future to hold safety meetings with our guests. We think it’s a brilliant idea! Below are some photos of the event attendees and a very cordial thank you letter from the Police Department.

It was a great feel good day at the resort but the funny thing is, no matter how much we tried to promote and give the guests prior notice of the event, there was a rush of phone calls and bystanders wanting to know what happened. It was nice to report it was just a good time had by all.

In another good turn of events, Golden Village Palms hosted a their Annual January Hospice fundraising event.  The theme was Hospice a Sure Bet. The event was hosted by Lynne Anderson and Pat Crocket of Golden Village Palms.  A lunch of crab salad on croissant was served while guest perused a silent auction of items donated by guests. A fashion show was also held featuring the GVP ladies modeling items they purchased from second hand stores. It always amazing how classy and beautiful our guests are in their bargain items.

200 Village Palms ladies attended and $1000.00 was raised along with a large collection of items to be donated to the Hospice thrift store.  The annual event was an annual success and we look forward to hosting it again next year.

The Weekly Taste – Golden Village Palms

By sunland | Published January 11th, 2012

Golden Village Palms has partnered with favorite Hemet local restaurants to create the The GVP Weekly Taste. Each week a different restaurant sets up camp at the popular Sunland Resort to bring a variety of delicious flavor from neighborhood eateries into GVP’s back yard, and pool side for that matter.

The inaugural week started off with a bang with El Patron Mexican Grill. They were a big hit with the guests. Each restaurant will set up a satellite eatery on the resort property to offer their local favorites to resort guests at a special on-site pricing. This is an added plus for Golden Village Palms visitors, as there’s not a full-time restaurant on the resort.

With the Weekly Taste, Golden Village Palms guests can get a work out in and grab a bite without having to leave the grounds, and the next time they do, they’ll have a great idea of where to have their next meal.

Presents, Presents, Presents!

Spark of Love Toy Drive at Emerald Desert RV Resort

Is that all Christmas is about? Well, Emerald Desert RV Resort guests made sure that presents were at least part of the equation this holiday. Christmas is about making spirits bright, and donating gifts to children in need can put smiles on the gift givers as well as the receivers. Emerald Desert did just that when they joined local community efforts this year for the 19th Annual Spark of Love Toy Drive.

The drive is put on by ABC 7 and the Palm Desert Fire Department. Each local Palm Desert fire station, in addition to housing brave firefighters, is a drop-off spot for toys each December. In their maiden toy drive voyage, Emerald Village collected over 50 toys from resort guests and their efforts didn’t cease there. At Hollywood Nights, a resort special event, resort photographer, Alfonso Murray took an printed photos of guests and all gratuities went towards purchasing more toys for the drive.

The joy of giving was abundant at Emerald Desert this Christmas. Michelle Graham, Emerald Desert’s Event Coordinator and organizer of the resort donations, was pleased with the guests’ willingness to participate.

“This was Emerald Desert’s first year involved with the Spark of Love Toy Drive. We look forward to growing next year and in the years to come.” says Graham

The donated toys were collected by Fire Chief Rios on December 15, 2011. See photos below:

Emerald Desert & Mike Thompson RV Partner for a Cause

By sunland | Published December 5th, 2011

On November 11, 2011 Emerald Desert RV Resort & Mike Thompson RV partnered to honor and raise donations for the Wounded Warrior Project for this special holiday.

The Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization that raises and awareness and money for the needs of injured service members. It is the organization’s vision, “to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history.”

Emerald Desert RV Resort and it’s guests contributed to this cause at a special fundraiser organized by the socially conscious resort. The Resort guests offered $2000 in donations to the cause. Over 160 American and Canadian attendees gathered around a mimosa breakfast to honor our wounded soldiers. Like the organization touts on it’s website, the worst casualty is being forgotten. The event kept awareness alive with music and Veteran speaker. Professional bugler form the Heat Wave Jazz and Show Band played and long time resident guest, Pete Van Vechten from 29 Palm Marine Corps, addressed the crowd on behalf of past wounded warriors.

Michelle Graham, the Activities Coordinator and Group Sales Manager of the property, presented the donation check in person to the Wounded Warriors Project at the San Diego headquarters on November 28th. Photographs from the check presentation can be viewed in the slideshow below.

The event was a great success and we greatly appreciate the generosity of our resort guests. We also extend a special thanks to the Pleasure Way RV Club for their contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project,” says Graham

The Emerald Desert RV Resort is enthusiastic about doing its part for the community and hopes to continue to give back through local events. Look for news about the Spark of Love Toy Drive the resort is hosting in December with the local fire department.
